How to access ARM DSP functionality using Zephyr on Thingy52/pca20020?

Hi,

I'm trying to do some on device FFT (and more) of data from accelerometer and microphone and would like to use the CMSIS-DSP functionality.  I didn't find any zephyr sample code anywhere that utilizes the DSP functionality so would like to know if someone has tried it or have an opinion on an approach?

Hi,

 

Do you mean the CMSIS-DSP software library, or the basic support for doing DSP operations? The latter is by-default supported as zephyr supports Cortex M4F, but the CMSIS-DSP library must be manually added to either your project or into the <zephyr>/ext/ part of zephyr, if approved by the community.

Hi Håkon,

The basic support could probably be fine for now - do you have an example or possibly links to docs or other? I need some FFT at least - generic filter kernel operations would be awesome too.

Hi,

 

By basic support, I mean that the FPU in the core is enabled. I am unfortunately not aware of any FFT libraries in the zephyr code base, but I recommend getting in touch with the zephyr community to verify this.

As far as this is concerned, it's just a standard Cortex-M4F - so not specific to Nordic.

The standard ARM CMSIS documentation would apply ...
