nrf52840 2mbps question

hi ,

We developed a BLE slave device with NRF52840.

Well, we are doing product certification, BQB CE FCC, etc now.

One of the items is the 2m rate test, and we want to know how much this affects us, is there a need for certification?

Because we won't do this certification if it doesn't affect us.

So I need someone a little bit more senior or someone from the original factory to help me answer that.

For example, if one android phone is bluetooth 5.0, our slave device can connect up to 4 devices with 1mbps. If you add more equipment, it will not work properly because of insufficient communication rate.

So when I use 2mbps for all slave devices, is there any chance that the number of device jobs will increase?

Is there a change in communication bandwidth?

Can you give us logic analysis and explanation from the communication principle?

  • Hi,

I do not quite understand what kind og tests out of the ones you refer you mean. In any case, you should be prepared that you have to test with the BLE 2M mode as well. Maybe not every test, but some/most, you should speak to your test house about that. BLE 2M mode has higher bandwidth than BLE 1M, other emissions are identical, but you need to prove it through testing.

If you do not plan to use BLE 2M, either from the start or later by DFU, you need to test it and prove compliance. By using BLE 2M, each packet will take up less time on air, freeing up more 'spare time' to possibly communicate with other devices. This can also be done if you adjust to longer connection parameters.
