BLE Paring - get the name of the pairing phone

Hi,

I have a question about pairing a phone with the nrf52832.

During the pairing phase (the phone see our device that is advertising and then starts the paring procedure, we are display-only and we display the random number generated by the BLE stack)

we would also like to display the name of the phone.

I'd like to ask if it is possible to get the name of the pairing phone and where to read it.

Are you developing a custom app for the phone?

If so you should be able to read out various device information on the app side, and send it to the nRF52832 peripheral once a connection is established. 

As an example of what information is available you can open the "Device information" screen in the Android version of nRF Connect.

yes, we are developing a customer app for the phone.

So we can send the name of the phone only after the connection and not before, is this correct

That is correct. Before the connection the phone doesn't share any information about itself, mainly as a privacy concern. The phone should be able to scan for nearby advertisers without allowing itself to be tracked and logged by others. 

Once you are connected it is possible to enable encryption, and share information safely without others being able to pick it up.
