Can't acces beacon data due password

I have a problem with connecting an Ibeacon with the app, the Ibeacon has an accelerometer and I should be able to view the data the accelerometer generates but I can't. I can connect the beacon but it does not bond and I am not able to read the accelerometer data. The factory says I have to insert a password in order to get to the data but I have no option to fill in a password anywhere.The beacon uses the nRF51822 to send ble. I can't seem to work it out, without getting this to work like it should my project get's stuck. I am not able to reprogramm the beacon because I don't have any firmware.

Can someone help me get the beacon to work?

Hi,

Since this is a third party module it is hard to tell what firmware they have put on it and what is required for it to work. If you do not get any help from the community here on DevZone then I suggest that you contact the company who made the module (Holyiot).

Thank you for your answer. I already contacted the company several times and they say I just have to look for the option in the nrf connect mobile application to insert the password. They gave me the password but I have no idea where I can fill it in on the app, I tried every option there is. So I am kind of stuck

Hi,

I would guess that it is either a passcode to use for pairing/bonding, or a password that has to be written to a characteristic after connection. It is a bit hard to tell. What was the exact description that you got for how to do this? (You can replace the password with *** when citing the description here.)

The man from the comapny told me to insert the password by one of the characteristics and when I put the password in there I would see the data from the accelerometer, but I don't see any difference at all when I fil in the password

Then I am sorry but I do not know what may be the solution. Only they (and other customers of theirs) would know how their product is supposed to work. I really hope you figure this out. Feel free to share the solution here when you find it.

Read (click the down arrow) the 'Unlock' characteristic in the 'Eddystone Configuration Service' (https://github.com/google/eddystone/tree/master/configuration-service) using the nRF Connect app once you've connected to the device.

Then Write (click the up arrow) on the same characteristic and the nRF Connect app will open a dialog asking you to enter the 'Lock code'. Type the password into the input and click 'Send'.

You should now have an unlocked beacon.

I have the same problem with a YJ-16009 on which sensor lis2dh12 mounted on nRF51822 QFAA seems to be inactive (no accelerometer characteristics are visible in nrf connect App). I've tried to declare the Eddystone Configuration Service, in nrf App (Server Part) and I followed your instructions without any success. I've read in another forum that the solution is to put a 0x01 value in one characteristic, but I do not know wich one.

Can you help me ? Thanks a lot, and have a nice end of year !

Seeing this thread is four years old, there is no guarantee you will get answers from previous participants to the discussion.

Regarding what you read in another forum, can you provide a link to that forum post? Maybe we can get any sense out of it, when we see the full context.
