Uploading new firmware to a low cost fitness tracker that uses NRF52832 chip, using the Nordic tools iOS app.

Hey guys,

i am trying to add new firmware to a cheap fitness tracker I have. After I write the new firmware in the Nordic SDK, I think I save it as a hex file. I’m not sure what to do next. 

I am not sure how to connect the tracker to the Nordic tools app. Is there a setting on the tracker I need to change to make it work? 

Many help of any kind at this point would be really great. Thanks in advance for your help and time.

I have figured out how to use the Nordic tools app. Now I’m not sure what the error, “Error DFU service not found” means. Any thoughts.

What fitness tracker do you have? 

Is there a way to put it in DFU mode? if not, the fitness tracker you have probably doesn't support DFU.

It says it uses over the air DFU. Just not sure how to put it in that mode. Can I cheat and just solder some pins from the nRF chip together or something like that?

I don't see any mention of firmware update at all on that page.

Even if it does support firmware update, that doesn't necessarily mean it will use Nordic's implementation.

A commercial product is likely to have protection in place to prevent you from loading "unauthorised" firmware ...
