UART-Gateway Usecase: Custom service?

Hi guys,

I want to use the nRF51822 as a gateway to send uart-commands from the µC to my iPhone and vice versa.

Do I need a custom service for that? Or is it sufficient to simply take the BLE_RX Event and put the data into the UART buffer?

Is there any recommendation on what template to start with?

Hi Ole,

thanks for your feedback.

While searching the forum for anything related to UART I also found the ble_app_uart example and I'm trying to understand how it works.

I'm extremely motivated and I already got myself books about Bluetooth Low Energy to understand it from the basis, but it's still difficult for me to get an focus on what screws to turn.

I'd be very glad if you could supply us a how-to guide for creating a custom service - maybe also while having in mind that some of us are beginners, not in RF, but in therms of "bluetooth" or "ble".
