ble_app_proximity disconnects from Master Control Panel on Android?

I have tested the ble_app_proximity sample firmware on nRF51822 eval kit and also on my custom board. Everything, regarding the used services seems to work as intended. However the Master Control Panel App running on Android 4.4 (LG L40) disconnects from nRF51822 after a few minutes of inactivity on the phone side and the nRF51822 goes back to advertising. There is no error message on the MCP log, just the entry "Disconnected" is there, as if I have used the disconnect button on the App.

That is not normal, right? Have you seen this issue before?

  • I have just discovered another funny behavior: When leave the phone very very close to the nRF51822, that the automatic disconnection happens quite late, after over half an hour, instead of just a few minutes. However, it can not be just a link loss. Because, the link loss service is running and does not give any notification. As I wrote, there is no notifications or error messages on the MCP log, just the entry "Disconnected" is there, as if I have used the disconnect button on the App.

  • Have you tried to sniff the connection?

  • Dear Petter, thanks for the advice. I have actually figured out the source of the problem thanks to Google & nice people who share their knowledge online, in different Forums. Turning the WiFi off solves the problem: It does not disconnect automatically anymore. So, my cheap test phone seems to have a severe design flaw: A kind of interference between WiFi and BT.
