USB driver install fail on Window 7, 8 (nRF52840, nordic_cdc_acm.inf)

Dear all

[Test Environment]

Device : nRF52840 DK (V 1.0.0)

Example : SDK15.2.0 / usbd_cdc_acm

Driver : nordic_cdc_acm.inf ( nRF5_SDK_15.2.0_9412b96\examples\usb_drivers )

OS : Window 7, Window 8

We are testing usb example. 

I had successfully installed driver on my pc.(Window 7)

However, the installation failed on other PC.(Window 7 : 2 pcs, Window 8 : 2 pcs)

I found this in the link below.

"In Windows 8.1 and earlier versions, Usbser.sys is not automatically loaded. To load the driver, you need to write an INF that references the modem INF (mdmcpq.inf) and includes [Install] and [Needs] sections."

nordic_cdc_acm.inf  contains the usbser.sys and mdmcpq.inf files.

I could find usbser.sys on my pc. (Window 7)

I could not find usbser.sys on other pc. (4 pcs)

usbser.sys Path : C:\Windows\System32\drivers

Is ther a way to install this properly in the window 7, 8?

or can you provide updated driver?

There are updates.

First, In Windows 7, driver update was successful after changing as below.
We moved usbser.sys to this path(C:\Windows\System32\drivers) and updated the driver.

Seconds, In Winodws 8, the driver was successfully updated after the change as shown below.
However, after the reboot, the driver is not recognized again.

From the above test results,
In Windows 7, it seems to be related to usbser.sys.
In Windows 8, it seems to be related to the driver signature.

Can you provide drivers for windows 7 and 8 without the above settings?

Hi, sorry. I've not gotten any response from the developer yet, but they are working on it. So unfortunately we don't have an official answer/new driver yet. If copying the .sys file to the drivers folder was fixing the problem, I suggest that you tell the customer to do this meanwhile, until we get an official fix out.

Our customer have tight schedule. They waiting your answer...

Additionally in case of Windows 8, it is recognized when it is set like YouTube video. 

However, it will not be recognized again after rebooting.

"Generate the signature, e.g. using libwdi. Non-trivial."

I'm sorry. I don't have a windows 8 PC. I will let you know as soon as we find a fix.
