Upgrading softdevice and porting nRF52832 to nRF52840

Hello,

I currently have a working device on nRF52832 that uses s132_5.0.0 softdevice that also works on nRF52_DK.

I'd like to port this device to nRF52840_DK, but I face the following problems/questions:
 - there is no s140_5.0.0 softdevice, I already tested with s140_5.0.0-3alpha with no out-of-the-box success
 - are same versions of s132 and s140 softdevices compatible? Meaning, if an application works on nRF52_DK with s132_6.1.0, will it work on nRF52840_DK with s140_6.1.0?
 - if not, how would one port from nRF52832 to nRF52840, preferably testing on devkits?

Yes, you can use s132 on the 840. 

Yes, application written on 832 will work on 840.

You can even flashed precompiled 832 hex into the 840 and it still works. 

832 and 840 has the same Cortex-M4F only 840 has more peripheral features
