do we need two interrupt pins for mpu9250 motion and for implementing wake on motion functionality

Hi Nordic,

I am using Segger IDE on windows 10 to verify the mpu9250 functionality based on nRF52832.My doubt is that do we need to have two interrupt pins i.e., one for 9250 motion and the other for implementing wake on motion functionality for 9250.??? or both can be achieved using single interrupt pin???

Hi,

I did not understand the question. Can you elaborate? The MPU-9250 only have a single interrupt pin (Pin 12: INT - Interrupt digital output), so you only need one GPIO input to handle interrupts on the nRF.

My question is that for detecting motion from mpu9250 we will be using one interrupt pin as GPIO input.To implement wake on motion functionality for mpu9250 do we require another interrupt pin as GPIO input or with the same GPIO input pin mentioned in the first line is fine????

It should be stated in the data sheet of the the MPU-9250.  have you read it ?  It is not related to nRF5x.   The nrf5x itself can handle multiple interrupt pins.  if you want to know.

In the MPU-9250 datasheet wake on motion configuration flow chart was given.But I am in an ambiguity whether another interrupt pin is required for this wake on motion configuration as already I am using one interrupt pin for MPU-9250 motion.

Hi. I think this must be based on a misunderstanding. According to it's datasheet, there is only one interrupt output from the MPU-9250. I cannot see why you would want more GPIO inputs for interrupts from it. What would you connect to the second GPIO input on the nRF? The same signal? If so, why?

It's clear for me to use one interrupt pin for MPU-9250.Thanks for your reply Einar and Hoan Hoang.

I did wake on motion configuration in one file.And in other file I am setting up a timer for some duration such that on expiry of that timer I am keeping MPU-9250 in Sleep mode.But as the wake on motion was configured in another file and also interrupt pin as soon as 9250 went to sleep mode and when I wave or shake the device to get motion the 9250 still is in sleep mode only and is not waking up on motion.

Could you help me out on this??
