It seem that Nordic does not offer a service for delivering chips pre-programmed with a custom firmware?
We are currently having our boards manufactured in China and shipped to us without any programming.
I'm quite reluctant about sending the unencryptet binary bootloader images to China.
We are currently using read-back protection as well as an encrypted BLE DFU bootloader.
I'm aware that the read back protection on the nRF51 is already broken, and that a similar flaw may be found in the nRF52 as well.
I'm also aware that given enough funding it is often possible to remove the lid of a IC and probe the flash directly.
But if we were to handover the bootloader in clear text it would be relatively trivial to disassemble it and gain access to the encryption key.
And once the encryption key is out in the open it would be impossible to secure future firmware versions against copying.
(Except for recalling all devices and reprogramming them over SWD with a new bootloader that uses a different key)
Does anyone know of a reputable (preferably European) company that offers a service for pre-programming nRF52 QFN chips and re-reeling them?
