Development board doesn't appear as a removable drive named "JLINK"

Hello Nordic people

When I plug nRF51 DK into my USB slot, the board doesn't appear as a removable drive named "JLINK". I already installed Common Line Tools with J-LINK V640, Keil uVision5 and downloaded SDK 15.2.0. Is there any other software that I have to install to find the board in Windows File Explorer?

I found familiar topic at https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/37895/nrf52-dk-does-not-show-as-a-removeable-drive-in-windows-file-explorer

But I can't find this J-LINK Commander. In which directory I have to look for it?

  • I reinstalled Common Line Tools with J-LINK and now I can find J-LINK Commander in Start Menu. But when I tried to write a command msdenable, the Commander ask for emulator and I don't know what to do with it. Can you help me with this emulator? If this won't help me to connect with the board, I will assume that my board is broken as you said before, but maybe there was some mistake in instalation process before and maybe thats why I didn't see Commander in Start Menu.

  • The "emulator" it's looking for is a JLink - specifically, the one that is built in on the DK.

Since you've already said that your PC does not detect anything when you plug the DK in, it should comes as no surprise that the software can't find anything.

Again, it's probably best to just get a new DK
