How to configure nrf cloud demo with ble400 and iOS Gateway app?

Objective: create a BLE gateway using the iOS Gateway app and nrf cloud demo

I have failed to make the demo work and am seeking ideas to help me get unstuck

I installed the nrf cloud demo firmware on an NRF51822 SoC on a BLE400 board (clean install – previous firmware, app and softdevice, erased)

I patched the board so as to create the same button and LED pinouts as the NRF51 DK

I then powered-up the BLE400 and started the NR Gateway app on my iPhone

Result from Gateway app:

You have no peripherals connected to manage gateway goto www.nrfcloud.com

Log shows a series of MQTT connection errors

Is there anything missing from the configuration?

Should I add the demo as a device using my online nrf cloud account.  If so, how?

Apologies for the noobie questions.  Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Rob

  • Hi northernLight,

Did you follow this Guide: nRF_Cloud_Quick_Start.pdf
it should be described there how you do it.

if you have other issues that please describe:

Where did you get this "nrf_cloud" demo firmware?

    How did you flash it?

Have you tried any other samples on your kit?

Do you use "nRF Cloud Gateway" on your phone?

  • Thankyou for the reply.  Yes I followed the guide, using the iPhone version of the nRF Cloud Gateway app

Where did you get this "nrf_cloud" demo firmware? Using the link in the guide

How did you flash it? using nrf Connect for PC which has a programme option

Have you tried any other samples on your kit? Blinky, UART, Heart rate app, ADC HAL – all work

Do you use "nRF Cloud Gateway" on your phone? I tried, but got the errors:

You have no peripherals connected to manage gateway goto www.nrfcloud.com

    MQTT connection errors (from log)

What else do you advise me to try?

    Many thanks again
