Device manager to peer manager upgrade, guidelines, side effects.

We are moving from using the Device Manager to the Peer Manager.

We are concerned about side effects concerning updating customer device firmware. One issue of concern is stored data such as pairing information which is stored in flash. Will this data be accessible to the  peer manager, or will the customer have to pair the devices again.

  • Hi,

The Device Manager and Peer manager stores data in flash very differently. Even the "file systems" are different, as the Peer manager use FDS and Device Manager used pstorage. Nordic does not provide any method for migrating from one to another in the field.

Generally, I would recommend you to stick with Device Manager for products that are already out in the field, but move the the Peer manager (and latest and greatest SDK version) for any new products.
