Relay performance of BLE mesh

I try to test Relay performance of BLE mesh, my setup as following:

1 one client loaded light switch client;

2 two server loaded light server with Relay On;

3 one sever loaded light server;

4 distance between client and Relay is 10 m, which means client can cover Relays;

5 Distance between Relays and server is 20m, which means Relays can cover server, but client can't reach server directly.

6 Client send message to turn on light, two relays can received message to turn on light, and relay message at advertise channels;

7 the problem is server only receive relay message about 65%, which means not all relay message can be received.

Could you please advise what is wrong? any tools can be monitor? I have used Mesh sniffer already.

Hi,

Do you receive more messages if the server is closer to the relay nodes? It is hard to say what is causing this issue, but it is not uncommon that you can lose some packets. The mesh is more vulnerable for noise, since the packets are ACK-ed on end-to-end basis.

Hi MK Chen, Did you reduce the transmission power of the Light-switch example? If yes, what is your current transmission power? Also, what are the other modifications to test the relaying functionality?

I have tried :

1  reduce TX power to -16 dBm

2 add RSSI threshold to filter -80 dBm

but all are not effective. Finally I add a MAC address filter at Bearer layer to achieve 6 hops relay.

Hi MK Chen, Thanks for your reply. Would you explain your approach a bit more? How did you get the MAC address of devices?
