why nRF82832 device can not be found by Huawei or Honor smart phone?

Dear Nordic:

My nRF82832 codes based on nRF5_SDK_15.2.0_9412b96 and used s132_nrf52_6.1.0. But I find the Bluetooth signal of nRF82832 can’t be scanned by smart phone which brands are Huawei and Honor when other brands smart phone can scanned nRF82832 like Xiaomi, OPPO and so on.

I also find another problem. The nRF82832 which I purchased 3 months ago can be scanned by Honor smart phone but Huawei smart phone can’t. But the nRF82832 which I recently I purchased can’t be scanned both Honor and Huawei.

The marked information of the nRF82832 which I purchased 3 months ago:(N52832 QFAAE0 1816DF)

The marked information of the nRF82832 which I purchased recently:

I do not know which reason has resulted in such problems.

I will look forward your useful help.

  • What exact models have you been using of Huawei and Honor? And what models is working with the older chip, and not the new one?

What we generally see is that there are occasionally released phones which do not work with older SoftDevices (However this doesn't seem to be the case here), because the phones often break the specification in some cases. There are usually workarounds for these problems in newer SoftDevices, however this might be a new one, in which case you most likely will have to wait for a new SoftDevice version. If you have made any changes to the SDK itself the chance increases to find a bug we haven't found yet.

Please specify what exact phone models you have been testing, and  what Android version they are running, and I will look into it.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Hi,

Yesterday , I read the "nRF52832 Product Specification v1.4" to look for the meaning of the the marked information of the nRF82832.

I find that the recently I purchased nRF52832 is the older hardware version , but the one  I purchased 3 month ago is a newer  hardware version.

The exact models of smart phone are Honor 6x(Andriod 8.0.0) , Honor 8x (Andriod 8.1.0), Huawei Nova2(Andriod 8.0.0).

        Many thanks for you.
