why nRF82832 device can not be found by Huawei or Honor smart phone?

Dear Nordic:

My nRF82832 codes based on nRF5_SDK_15.2.0_9412b96 and used s132_nrf52_6.1.0. But I find the Bluetooth signal of nRF82832 can’t be scanned by smart phone which brands are Huawei and Honor when other brands smart phone can scanned nRF82832 like Xiaomi, OPPO and so on.

I also find another problem. The nRF82832 which I purchased 3 months ago can be scanned by Honor smart phone but Huawei smart phone can’t. But the nRF82832 which I recently I purchased can’t be scanned both Honor and Huawei.

The marked information of the nRF82832 which I purchased 3 months ago:(N52832 QFAAE0 1816DF)

The marked information of the nRF82832 which I purchased recently:

I do not know which reason has resulted in such problems.

I will look forward your useful help.

  • Hi

Thank you for the detailed information! Seeing as the recently purchased chip is an older version, I suspect that this version simply is not compatible with the Honor phones, but should still be with the Huawei.

Can you test the chips with any of our SDK15.2 examples, to see if the phones are able to detect them. Are you using custom boards? Do you have a Development Kit available to test if the phones can detect that with your code, and with an example.

Lastly, is the Huawei phone able to detect any bluetooth devices what so ever? Seems strange that it won't work, and I want to rule out the possibility that the phone itself is faulty.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Hi,

This morning I follow your advice and use the example " ble_app_uart" of SDK15.2 to test my own PCB. The result is that my PC can scan the nRF85832 but  the Honor 8X can't scan it.

The following is my test pictures.

The first picture is the result of my PC scanning device(Lenovo, bluetooth name :DESKTOP-J3D4O6P) .

The second picture is the result of Honor 8X scanning device .

From the pictures you will find Honor 8X can scan other bluetooth devices normally but nRF52832.

  • Hi

Can you test this again and scan using the nRF Connect app. The chips doesn't always appear as a regular bluetooth device, but should be visible if using our app.

    Best regards,

    Simon
