direct advertise public mac issue

Hi,

I'am testing direct advertise and I found strange behaviour with "nrf connect" app.

1. Direct advertises won't be proceeded on "nrf connect" unless there is at least one bonded device, am I right?

2. Direct advertises appear on "nrf connect" list when advertiser initiator and phones addresses match?

3. "nrf connect" doesn't proceed direct advertises with public MAC's, am I right? (i been using public MAC copied from settings menu, and it didn't workedout).

4. In theory when bonded device exists, "nrf connect" should try to resolve advertises addr (if it's random resolvable) with all bonded list IRK to evaluate a match, if match success then peripheral is shown on a list?

5. In theory when bonded device exists, "nrf connect" should compare advertiser addr (if it's public) with mobile public, and if match success show on a list?

  • Hi,

nRF Connect for none of the platforms does anything with addresses.

It is all handled by the system. We just display devices that we receive from the system. Addresses visible are already resolved, I think.

Also, it all depends on manufacturer and Android version. One of our devlopers experienced once that the direct adv wasn’t’ shown at all, but he was able to connect to such bonded device, so Android was just hiding it.
