REG0 specifications

Hello,

I'm searching informations about the regulator REG0 (Internal regulator of the nRF52840 chip). I have find the chapter "5.3.8.2 Regulator specifications, REG0 stage" of the datasheet "nRF52840_PS_v1.0.pdf" but it is not specified for what regulator mode : LDO, DCDC or both ?

I would like to know the maximum voltage drop of the REG0 for the two mode (DCDC and LDO).

I'm also interessting by the efficiency of the REG0 in mode DCDC. I know that this efficiency can varie follow the external componants used but have you some measurement/estimate to make me an idea ?

Best regards.

  • The spec is for both modes. The regulator switches between different modes automatically.

The maximum voltage drop would be the maximum operating input voltage for the REG0 stage, 5.5V, minus the minimum output voltage of the REG0 stage, 1.8V.

Sorry, we do not provide any efficiency estimates for the REG0 (or REG1) regulator because it switches between LDO/DCDC and refresh mode (low power mode) based on application.

I can do some measurements here if you explain some more about your application, which peripherals are running, and if you plan on supplying external components from REG0.
