nRF9160 SDK without Zephyr

Hello,

We have an nRF9160 DK and have successfully set-up the tools necessary to re-flash and write firmware for the DK using Zephyr and SEGGER Embedded Studio. We are planning to develop a product that is rather simple and follows along the lines of our current products that use the S140 nRF52832 SDK.

Are there any plans for Nordic to release an SDK for the nRF9160, similar to the S140 SDK for nRF52, that will not include the Zephyr RTOS?

I was wondering the same thing. Especially as we are using FreeRTOS on the nRF52.

It is a little surprising to see Nordic promoting RIOT on Twitter, focusing on Zephyr on this SKU, and having to support Kiel and Segger studio, etc. Much of it has to do with the underlying architecture but not all of it. Hopefully Zephyr is not du jour. I see Nordic pouring a lot of resources into it so I think they are committed. Would love to hear from a Nordic employee however.
