Reading advertised data over BLE via UART

Hello,

I've just been following this tutorial for beginners about advertising. I've got it to work fine. I am able to advertise specific data and this can be viewed through nRF connect . My question is, if it is possible to convert this manufacturer specific data which is being advertised to a string instead of hexadecimal ASCII and push it out via UART where it can be viewed via Putty? Instead of just viewing the advertised data as hex in nRF connect?

Yes, this is possible. Take a look at the UART example.

If you have defined an array of data to advertise, you can print the data out by using the Logger module and NRF_LOG_INFO, with UART as a backend, in the following manner:

uint8_t data[] = "SomeData!"; //Data to advertise
.
.
.
NRF_LOG_INFO("%s \r\n", data);

Take a look at one of the examples in the SDK which uses UART logging, and use it as a reference (e.g. ble_app_beacon)
