NRF9E5 documentation and programing drivers

Hello,

I have an issue about the NRF9E5 and the external EEPROM.

When I program the external EEPROM sometimes the procedure fails. When I retry the action is impossible to program the external EEPROM because it seems protected or damaged. The solution now is to replace the EEPROM from a new one.

So, what do you think that should be the problem? Is any way to force the writting to the EEPROM?

I also have another problem. I programming the device with a very old computer and I need to update it. Now all PCs works with Windows 10, but it seems that the old drivers do not works with window 10. Could you provide a drivers for windows 10? In the Nordic website is impossible to find anything about this device. It seems that all the information has been deleted. What is the reason?

My suggestion is to check the manufacturer of the SPI EEPROM you are using, and which tools they prefer for programming. Any third party SPI EEPROM programmer I would think should work, there is no requirement to use any nordic tools during programming of the SPI EEPROM.

The only thing you need to do with the hex file you want to program to the SPI EEPROM is to run the eeprep utility if you haven't already. The eeprep is a command line utility that will add a header to the hex file that is used to identify for instance the crystal used in the design. Refer to nRF9E5 datasheet for parameters. This is a one time operation that you do on the hex file.

By the way, why is impossible to find any reference of NRF9E5? When I search for NRF9E5 on google there are lot of links, but when I acces to them it seems to be removed from your website.

Hi,

I believe the reason is that there have been no new development on the nRF9E5 and supporting tools for many years (e.g. it is not compatible with new Windows releases), so it is no longer promoted for development, even though it is in production for existing designs.
