Do you recommend any RF power amplifier for the nRFgo motherboard?

We are using ANT with the nRFgo motherboard as base station and want to broadcast a signal over the largest range possible (> 100 m) to several mobile devices using the Dynastream N5 SoC module. For testing purposes, we would like to use and external, commercially available 2.4 GHz PA. Most of them are WiFi range extenders but I have not found one with a minimum input power as low as +4 dBm. We tried this PA but its minimum input is +8 dBm, thus it did not work.

I wonder if you have a suggestion for this. Thank you very much,

  • We don't really have a lot of these request as most of our customers are focused on low power implementation. We do however have some every now and then that ask about PA. We did some basic testing on a SkyWorks PA many years ago that's no longer available, but I see the same manufacturer have some evaluation boards available. I went on digikey.com and searched for 2.4 ghz PA: www.digikey.com/.../3539644

The first one there seems to be able to handle input power of everything up to +12 dBm, so it should fit your requirement. Again, we haven't tested this and it's just based on a quick search I did on Digikey. RF Axis, Maxim and other vendors might have other solutions and test boards you can try on.
