Is the NRF52840 able to act as host for a Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR device with an Serial Port Profile (SPP)?

I would like to communicate with and existing product that has the ability to communicate thanks to a UART-Bluetooth module. This module uses a Serial Port Profile and shows up as a COM-port when paired on Windows. Is the Bluetooth hardware/stack on the NRF52840 retro-compatible with such an old Bluetooth version?

 No, this is physically impossible. Bluetooth Classic communicates in a different way.
