PTRCB and/or GCF

We are working on a nRF91-based device, and trying to understand the regulatory premises.

From what I can see the module is approved according to GCF (www.globalcertifications.org) which is fairly new to me.

How does this relate to PTCRB, which I see as a mostly North America centric approval?

Hi Mikael, 

yes the module is approved according to GCF. PTCRB is basically the same, they both are certification process which ensure mobile devices conform to the 3GPP standards. Which one you need depends on the requirements in the area you are launching your product. 
GCF is required for products launched in Europe, Asia and some other parts of the world. PTCRB is required for products launched in North America. 

Talk to the carrier you are going to use, to get information about certification they require you to have.

Thanks - looking at the list of ongoing regulatory approvals, I note that you are working on PTCRB if I understand the list correctly?
