Licensing DFU tool for inclusion in our release software

As it stands there is some confusion about licensing the DFU utility code in our systems we are concerned about licensing issues.  We are compiling the python to an executable for redistribution.  Considering PySerial requires representation of their license in binary form, and the nordic license has several clauses, can we legally use a compiled version that will operate in the background to update our nRF52840 on user devices? Or will we need to re-write the DFU utility?

Hi Charles,

You have to respect the licence of nrfutil and all libraries it uses. Among other things, that means that you have to include the pyserial licence in the documentation and/or other materials provided with the distribution, and the same goes for other libraries.

I do not see anything limiting you from using a binary version in the background, since the licenses allow you to put the license text in documentation. It does not have to be reproduced by the software itself.
