PAN #88: Does not apply

Hi there

I was going through the errata sheet and discovered the PAN #88.

It states that the current consumption is increased when entering System ON Idle within 125us after reloading the WDT.

Further the WDT must be configured to pause while the CPU is asleep.

So far we enter the System ON mode at arbitrary times and earlier than the stated 125us but the current consumption does not increase.

Is it possible that this anomaly does not always apply or are there other conditions that must be given?

Therefore, is it necessary to actually delay entering System On mode or can we save the current that we would loose waiting.

I tested this with the nRF52832, Rev 1. QFAB-B00. Debug and release build showed the same result.

Are you manually controlling the HF clock? This is related to the HF clock not being released, but if you manually start the clock (HFXO) when doing stuff, then feed the WDT and stop the clock before going to sleep, you should be fine.

Are you able to reproduce this with some simple code you can share here on devzone? Then I can look into it and do some measurements to see what happens.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I do turn off the HFXO before entering Sytstem ON mode.

So this must be the reason why i don't see this anomaly occuring.

When I am not turning off the HFXO I do see the increased current consumption.
