Jlink Windows explorer window keeps opening and closing

When I plug my PCA10031 dongle into a Windows PC, a Windows Explorer Jlink drive opens, then closes... then opens, then closes (repeat). This seems to go on "forever" (although, I did not actually wait *forever*!). In one case, eventually my PC crashed and Windows restarted it.

I've tried this with two different Windows 10 PCs and get the same result.

Hi,

I have not seen this behavior before, but it looks like the dongle is connecting and disconnecting from the PC. Does it fit tightly in the USB port? Has it worked with the same computer before? You could also try reflashing the firmware on the J-Link OB debugger, by holding down SW1 on the dongle while plugging it in, and drag the firmware (J-Link OB-SAM3U128-V2-NordicSemi 170724.bin) to the BOOTLOADER removable device (if this enumerates correctly).

Hi Jorgen

holding SW1 when inserting the dongle caused a Windows Explorer window to open and stay open. I was then able to reflash the firmware. On removing and reinserting the dongle, the J-Link window opened and closed three times but then stayed open. So basically, it's working now but I'm not sure whether the reflash made any difference.... maybe as you were thinking, it's actually a problem with it not fitting properly (although it does seem OK) or something like that.

Hopefully this is solved but we shall see.
