Need support for obtaining IEC 60335

Hi there,

Can I get any technical support to obtaining IEC 60335, which is about the chip's self test.

  • Hi Erin,

I do not see how the IEC 60335 is related to the chips self test as it deals with the safety of electrical appliances for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.

This is also probably a certification that must be done on the end product as a whole, not on the individual components.

    Best regards

  • I doubt that people can help you without you being more specific.

Please give any information that may help e.g. what chip you are referring to and how you are using it in your product?

As I recall IEC 60335 relates to household appliances.

Is your product battery or mains powered?

What type of product is it?

Which sections of the standard are you looking to meet?

Are you referring to a self test routine for the product as a whole rather than an individual component?

  • Hi Bjorn,

It's about the self test of the chip. We use Nrf51822 as a MCU. The spec required the selftest of the MCU as watch dogs self test, CPU core self test, Flash integrity check, RAM functional check, Clock frequency check, Control Flow check, Partial CPU core test, Stack boundaries test, Clock test, A/D MUX test, Comm peripherals test, interrupt rate test,Partial Flash test, IWDG and WWDG refresh... Would you provide the port to get such information about the tests?

    Wishes~

  • What you list appears to cover far more than I would expect from a household appliance, its more of what I would expect from a safety critical one such as a Class C medical.

That aside much of what you mention is performed by testing with your firmware within the final product and probably with external equipment. How else would you prove that the clock frequency is what you've selected?

Or have I misunderstood and you require some certificates of conformity from Nordic themselves beyond what they may provide publicly on their website?

If this is the case then you may need to request this through your Nordic supplier..

  • : I believe that you are referring to IEC 60335 Class B certification. We do not have any class B software libraries or certification for the nRF51822. If you need this then I would recommend contacting a third party, like Hitex, which can assist with the design and test of self-test libraries.

    Best regards
