802.15.4 stack Start of Frame delimiter

I am curious if the 802.15.4. start of frame delimiter can be modified for non compliant usage for a private network?

I've had some look around in the documentation for 802.15.4, and it looks like it is not possible to modifiy the SFD in Software, only in HW.

So the answer as far as I can tell is no.
