LTE Link Monitor

I have a custom design with NRF9160. I try to use the debug output of the NRF9160 DK, but on the debug-out of the nrf91 DK it is not recognize (target Voltage is visible at the debug out connector). With a Segger J-link base I can connect, but LTE Link Monitor does not work, because the necessary com ports are not created. Could you maybe give me some hints how I can get the Link Monitor running on my custom design.

Could you try to change the "VDD_IO" (SW11, in the lower left corner) into 3V position and see if this helps?

 

LTE Link Monitor does not work, because the necessary com ports are not created. Could you maybe give me some hints how I can get the Link Monitor running on my custom design.

This is unfortunately an open issue with LTE Link Monitor, as it only parses the nRF9160-DK settings. This has been worked on (https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/pc-nrfconnect-linkmonitor/commit/396c082425dc9585fb6b6522f131ecbfc95882f3), but it seems like we still have an issue, as I am not able to choose any non-nRF marked COM port.

You can use a terminal of your choice to send AT-commands as a workaround (putty, realterm, teraterm etc), although you will not get all the meta data parsed as in LTE Link Monitor, unfortunately.

I've reopened this specific bug report internally.

So, it seems that I needed to fully close nRF connect, and restart it again after de-selecting "Auto device / port filter":

Could you also try this and see if you're able to detect all COM-ports?

If I connect a J-Link base no Com Port is created, so what do I have to do to create a COM when using the AT Command example

The J-Link Base does not have a virtual COM port. Do you have a FTDI or similar available?

Which pins are used for RX/TX an which baud rate?
