Is the PCA10004 tuned for maximum performance in terms of range/distance?

Hi,

For my custom PCB, I am using the PCA10004 as reference in order to determine if the maximum possible range has been achieved. However, I am seeing only about 20 feet range (through a concrete wall) with the PCA10004 as peripheral & an ipad as central. I am getting the same range with my custom PCB but I am not sure if this is the maximum that can be achieved?

hence, my question is: whether the PCA10004 range be used as reference in terms of the maximum range that can be achieved with a custom PCB using the same type of antenna.

Regards, NK

  • Yes, the PCA10004 is tuned for the best performance. I would suggest you try the range in an open area and not through a concrete wall. You don't know what's inside that wall. If you get the same distance with your board as you do with the PCA10004 I would say it sounds very promising, but please try the range in an open area.
