nrf52-DK, I now have DAPLINK, but hex files no longer work, nor does is seem to work as it did before on mbed

Somewhat doubtfully updated to DAPLINK, followed the guide re - turning off services/storage service to get this update to work. All looked good.

but board now appears BRICKED as far as running hex files on it.

I can get the board into maintenance mode, drop the softdevice 0253_sam3u2c_mkit_dk_dongle_nrf5x_0x5000.bin, reboots to DAPLINK

However, files like :
nRF5_SDK_15.3.0_59ac345\examples\ble_peripheral\ble_app_blinky\hex\ble_app_blinky_pca10056_s140.hex

do nothing

Also mbed no longer seems to work. Same problem, compile, copy hex file to DAPLINK drive, but no result

Possible to get J-link drive version back?
