nRF9160 DK : nrf_cloud_connect failed:22, only led3 blinking

Hi Nordic,  I have a nRF9160 Development Kit. I am a Beginner and lives in Germany. So, therefore I already have a sim from 1NCE. To start from basics, I programmed the DK with asset tracker from nRF SDK and trying to connect with nRF Cloud. Unfortunately, only led 3 is blinking and an error showed as nrf_cloud_connect failed: 22 on the terminal of LTE Link Monitor. The nRF9160 have updated firmware "mfw_nrf9160_0.7.0-15.alpha". Kindly Help?

Hi Shobhit,
First off I would like you to download and flash the newest Modem Firmware version: https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Low-power-cellular-IoT/nRF9160/Download#infotabs

Then I highly recommend that you flash the at_client sample and run the LTE Link Monitor.

Please flash the at_client application by the command line: nrfjprog --program merged.hex -f nrf91 --sectorerase -r --verify

merged.hex

Then use the LTE LInk Monitor to get the information from the modem and the network. This will give a quick indication for what the issue can be.

I suspect that the modem is not set in NB-IoT mode.

You can do this in LTE Link Monitor by sending the commands:

AT+CFUN=4  (set the modem in offline mode)

AT%XSYSTEMMODE=0,1,0,0 (switch the modem to nb-iot mode)

AT+CFUN=0 (set the modem in power off mode and save the settings in the modem flash)

Then you can restart your nrf91 Kit and it will use the nb-iot mode, and you should be able to connect to the network.
