Proof Of Concept for testing a BLE enabled device thrugh nRF Connect for Desktop

Hi Team,

We are currently validating a BLE enabled embedded device. The device has an ARM Cortex M0 chipset and uses Dialog Semiconductor for BLE.

Could you please let me know if I can use nRF Connect for desktop to validate the functionality of the BLE enabled device.

What dongle should I use in order to proceed with the validation on a Windows 10 64 bit machine.

Hi Ram,

nRF Connect for Desktop requires a nRF5 DK or dongle connected to the PC in order to work. The nRF52840 Dongle is probably the best choice if you only intend to use it for this purpose. nRF Connect BLE has some Nordic specific support (for instance our DFU solution), but it can be used to communicate with any BLE device.

You must contact Dialog for any questions related to their products.

A bit cheeky coming to Nordic for support, then?!

Surely, Dialog must have their own utilities for doing this kind of thing?!

You'll have to be going to Dialog anyhow for support with your product - so why confuse the issue by using competitor tools?

But, anyhow, the whole point of standards like BLE is that they are independent of the underlying hardware details.

So nRF Connect will be able to work with any BLE device in so far as it complies with the BLE standards.

Of course, it won't recognise any Dialog proprietary details - you'll have to do that from the raw UUIDs and Service & Characteristic details.

Yeah I know it's cheeky, but I have to validate the BLE functionality of the device and not what the Dialog Semi is providing.
