LTE Connectivity in UK and problems with a modem

Hi,

I recently received a NRF9160 DK from DigiKey in U.S. and having trouble doing anything!

I am using iBasis SIM card and a the moment my whole experience is like this:

First I had the error "<err> net_if.net_if_init: There is no network interface to work with!", but eventually, I got rid of it somehow. None of the "Indicators" at the top right corner of the window did ever change the colour from RED.

I am using:
  OS: macOS Mojave 10.14.4
  NRF Connect: v.2.6.2
  Segger Studio: v.4.16
  Modem Firmware: 0.7.0-29.alpha
  nrfjprog version: 9.8.1
  JLinkARM.dll version: 6.44h

I tried erasing completely, flashing SPM then Asset Tracker and I think all of the ever suggested solutions in this forum, so not sure where the problem lies.

Would the board be in this state if there are no NB-IOT or CAT-M networks around? Or maybe at least the UART status should me healthy?

  • It seems that due to the UK infrastructure, the UK is split down the middle, where the western side supports NB-IoT & the eastern side supports LTE-M1. iBasis seems to have support for Telefonica on LTE-M1. I think it is best to contact your local Regional Sales Manager (RSM), who should be able to help you in regards to coverage in your area & any other tips. If you do not know who this is, you can send me a private message on DevZone with your country location & I will pass you on to the RSM. This DevZone case could also be helpful.
