How to measure current on Power Profiler nRF5 DK without sourcing power?

Hello,

I have the following power profiler: https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-Tools/Development-Kits/Power-Profiler-Kit/Download#infotabs

I was able to correctly set up the DK to log the current on an external DUT while also powering it from an external power source connected to the DK. This way, the DUT will still receive power from the DK itself.

I would now like to measure current on the external DUT while powering it from the DUT itself rather than through the DK. Is there a way I can configure this?

Hi, 

Do you switch to the External power (External) on Power select (SW4)? 

• External: An external power supply is the power source connected to the External DUT supply(P22) connector of the PPK.

You can also take a look at this blog post, which shows how to measure an external DUT.

Thanks for your help.

My intention is not to power my DUT from SW4. I would just like to measure current without sourcing anything.

My DUT is self-powered and doesn't require an external power source. I would like to use the power profiler kit to just measure the current on a section of my device. Is there a way I can do this?

No, SW4 selects the power source for the PPK and DUT both. It could not be cut off for DUT.
