nRF9160 AT Firmware

I was wondering if it is possible to do HTTP requests with the nRF9160 just by using AT commands? Since this is usually possible with such kind of modules.

The reason is that I don't want to use the module as main processor but just for the communication interface.

Has anybody any example for this? Or is this planned for future?

I would be glad if any of the developers could answer because this would be an important reason for our hardware selection.

The company I'm working for plans on developing a similar interface that should at least support communication via UDP sockets. We could talk about combining our efforts should Nordic not have a solution planned for this already.

What you can possibly implement now a serializer on the application side of the nrf91 which you tailor for your preference. 
So it will more or less function as you want through AT commands.
