Hello,
is it possible to localize the chip via the NB technology.? I red that this is supported by the NB standard.
When I switch on NB supporte systemmode the gps sample is not working.
Thanks

Hi Omarama,
Could you be a little more specific with your question?
Are you talking about NB-IoT technology in general?
Are you referring to Geolocation?
The modem firmware that is public now only supports running NB-IoT and GPS separately.
That means that you can turn the modem off then switch modes.
The GPS sample sets the modem firmware mode to GPS automatically.
Please share any logs or any additional questions you may have.

Hey Martin,
sorry for the late answer. Is it possible to localize the device only using the NB technology not the GPS technology. I red that the LTE-NB is able
to localize via triangulation. But I think thats not possible at the moment. The only way to localize the nrf9160 dev kit is via the GPS functionallity, isn't it?
Thanks in advance
Omarama
ps. Is the board version v0.8.3 able to localize the device using the onboard antenna? Or is the gps matching fault on all boards older than 0.8.5?
Hi Omarama,
Triangulation localization is not supported yet.
However, you can use the location from the cell tower to get a very rough approximate location of the device.
So for accurate localization, you should use the GPS feature. The boards older than the v0.8.5 has the GPS matching fault.
Wondering if localization through "cell towers" is available now?
It is supported in 3GPP rel 14 with Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA).
