nRF8001 Current Consumption

Hi,

I have tried changing the connection parameters (min and max connection interval) and looked into nRFGo Studio to see what the current consumption would be. In Column 2, I have the result from the nRFGo Studio. However, when I used it in my board (with microcontroller + nrf8001), I have the current consumption of the nRF8001 in column 3. I was wondering why there is such a big discrepancies in the values.

Connection Interval (ms/ms) Current Consumption (uA) from nRFGo Studio Current Consumption (uA) Actual
15/15 657 uA 775 uA
90/105 111 uA 170 uA
150/165 78 uA 114 uA
225/240 60 uA 119 uA
300/315 51 uA 110 uA
375/390 45 uA 120 uA
450/465 40 uA 120 uA

Hoping for your urgent response. Thanks!

  • Is the second number in column 1 (I.E. 15, 105, 165 and so on) the advertising interval in nRFGo Studio? Are you using the "Generate source files" option in nRFGo Studio? In that case, please check that your advertising interval is set to the corresponding value in your application as well. Also, how are you measuring the actual current consumption?

    Best regards,

    Simon
