nRF UART 2.0 can't scan nRF52 devices on Android 9.0.

Hi everyone,

I m trying to communicate nRF52832 to an android application " nRF52 UART 2.0" on 9.0.

"nRF52 UART 2.0" app source is from git(https://github.com/NordicPlayground/Android-nRF-UART).

I have two smartphone. One is android 9.0, Another one 4.4. 

That application downloaded at Google store can scan the devices, but "nRF52 UART 2.0" source from git can't scan the devices on android 9.0.

Android 4.4 can.

I wanna know what is problem and resolve the issue.

Are you using the unmodified SDK example on your nRF52832?

What happens if you download the app from the Android store:

Can your phone itself (ie, not via other apps) see your device?

Can your phone see any other BLE devices?

Can you see your device using nRF Connect, or any 3rd-Party scanner?

- Yes. nRF52 uploaded "ble_app_uart".

What happens if you download the app from the Android store:
- it can scan devices well. But  "nRF52 UART 2.0" git source is not scanning on android 9.0 when Build and upload my smartphon on android studio.

- No. it do not scan nothing.

Can you see your device using nRF Connect, or any 3rd-Party scanner?
 - Yes. nRF toolBox, nRF Connect can scan device.

What make & model, exactly?
Works OK on my Sony Xperia XA2 ...
(I downloaded the app from the Play Store)
- nRF UART 2.0 app is scanning well from the Play Store, the downloaded source from git is not.

That's a double negative!

You mean either "it does not scan anything" or "it scans nothing" - yes?

Do you have a specific reason for using the source?

If not, then just use the one from the app store!

If you do need the source, then you're going to have to debug it!

I think Android 9 is quite recent - so, quite possibly, they have changed something which breaks the GitHub code. Some security policy or setting is most likely...

Enable the "HCI Snoop Log" on both of your devices - then compare the "working" and "non-working" sequences...

I have resolved the problem.

As Simonr said, It should have checked location permission above android 6.0.
