AT Command to get ICCID from nRF9160 modem?

Hi,

We are working on our manufacturing process that involves use of the nRF9160. I need a way to programmatically get the IMEI and ICCID in order to register the device to our cellular provider.

I see there is an AT Command to get the IMEI number (using AT+CGSN). However, I do not see a command to read the ICCID of the SIM card that is currently in the device. In other modems, I've seen commands such as AT+CCID that return the ICCID of the currently inserted SIM.

Any idea how I can read this value from the application software?

Hi Jack.

You can find ICCID by running the AT command:

 AT+CRSM=176,12258,0,0,10

You will get a response back something like:

+CRSM: 144,0,"2143658709"

The "2143658709" is in binary coded decimal format  with switched digits. So in this example it would turn out to be "1234567890".

To make it clear:

21 43 65 87 09

Switch places:

12 34 56 78 90

I know this is a little old post but I hope I could still get some help from here.

Sending AT+CRSM=176,12258,0,0,10 before AT+CFUN=1 gives me ERROR. But first sending AT+CFUN=1 and then AT+CRSM=176,12258,0,0,10 gives OK.

So, is there a way to read ICCID before modem has been powered on?

Hi Tero,

 

Power to the sim will not be applied before the modem is activated, so the +CRSM will then fail before CFUN is set to '1'.

You could try this sequence:

* subscribe to AT%XSIM

* Start up the modem with CFUN=1

* After "OK" has been returned, activate flight-mode with SIM turned on: AT+CFUN=44

* Wait for SIM init notification: %XSIM: 1

* Communicate with the SIM.

 

You can ofcourse poll XSIM instead of waiting for notification, if you prefer that instead.
