32MHz Quartz doesn't work

Hello everyone,

After having designed a pcb by taking the scheme proposed by the datasheet, I uploaded by the Black Magic Probe, the example code of the SDK "receiver Radio" (functional on dev kit for the nRF52832). the inputs are working perfectly. However, 32MHz quartz does not oscillate. I unsoldered the quartz and the capacitors and measured the voltage on XC1/GND and XC2/GND.  I get 0.8V on both. Is that normal?

Any ideas?

For information, first we took a nRF52810. No Oscillation. but because the kit dev is using an nRF52832 and the pattern is the same, I change the nRF52810 for the nRF52832 (in case of incompatibility ). so the RF Antenna component values are not the same. But i guess this is independant of the crystal problem.

secondly, the 2 connexions from the VSS to the center are not added . (i added manually center to ground myself).

Hi,

 

nRF52832 and nRF52810 should show the same behaviour here, so not really too important. Also the RF matching components should not need change, anyway if they are not optimal you should see fair RF performance, unless the antenna is bad.

Have you tried a different 32 MHz crystal?

ok I understand. And I don't tried with other 32MHz Crystal.
