LTE Link Monitor/Cloud Connect

I've been wrestling with this DK for some time now, but today I tried to get the LTE Link Monitor app to run and see what outputs I could get. I ran everything the same as the video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5V4Vo_Xemk

1) Turned on the DK

2) Connected it to the LTE Link Monitor

3) Hit the reset button and viewed the output

4) Hit the AT+CFUN? button

I have not gotten the same output as the video suggests

My issues are the commands seem to time out, but also I seem to have some rogue devices connected to my account popping up.

The asset tracker program still seems to be working as it's spitting out the dummy data and registering the FLIP state.

But I can't seem to get anything on the LTE Link Monitor.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

  • Hello,

I've been wrestling with this DK for some time now, but today I tried to get the LTE Link Monitor app to run and see what outputs I could get.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been struggling with the DK. Can you please tell me what version of the board you are running? This can be found on the back e.g. 0.8.2

I ran everything the same as the video.

This video is very outdated and was released at an early stage (Desember 2018). In this video, they are running the AT Host example and using the nRF Connect for Desktop v2.6.1 with LTE Link Monitor. We have just released nRF Connect for Desktop v3.0.0, that I see you are using.

I have not gotten the same output as the video suggests

This is because your board is running an older version of the Asset Tracker application. This does not support AT commands.

My issues are the commands seem to time out, but also I seem to have some rogue devices connected to my account popping up.

See the answer above. Not sure what these rogue devices are, but you can remove these by click on each device and then on Configure in the right corner. Here you can select Delete Device.

The asset tracker program still seems to be working as it's spitting out the dummy data and registering the FLIP state.

At least you have confirmed that your device is able to connect the LTE-M network

    <err>net_if.net_if_init: There is no network

Where do you get this error?

My SIM card is registered to my account, and it's obviously active as it's transmitting. I have the latest firmware on the device.

How do you know you have the latest FW? Have you updated to the latest modem FW?

Please have a look at our Getting Started with nRF9160 DK tutorial and the nRF Connect SDK Tutorial. At the same time, please install the Getting Started Assistant in nRF Connect for Desktop. This can be done the same way you installed LTE Link Monitor. All documentation for the nRF Connect SDK can be found here

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hello ,

I see from the back of my DK that I have version 0.8.2 of the board.

As to the issue of the two devices with the UUIDs, whenever I try to delete the devices the program the command just seems to run forever and never actually does anything.

The error I'm encountering is highlighted in the red box below

and I'm fairly certain I am running the latest firmware as I followed the instructions on a previous ticket I opened.

    https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/49264/unable-to-update-firmware-on-nrf9160

I guess I'll re-visit the tutorials you suggested, I'll just note that I've ran through the "Getting Started Assistant" a few times but I keep hitting dead ends when it comes to building the projects.

Ok, this is good, but you must also update NCS to tag v1.0.0 as my colleague Martin asked in the other case (#231953)
