I have been using MQTT_simple example and building my application on that. One thing I noticed is that power consumption is around 40mA. I would like to hit that 7uA or something close.
What are the things that need to be done to do that? Disconnect MQTT? Go to sleep? Is there an example of full low pawer for the module.

Sorry for the late answer here. You can use PSM/eDRX modes: https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/cellular-iot-guides/b/hardware-design/posts/measuring-psm-idle-current-on-the-nrf91-dk
But it seems you already found there yourself 
You should then be able to go down to ~7uA.
Also set 'CONFIG_SERIAL=n' in both the application and SPM and as Martin commented to you in the tutorial, disable serial in the prj.conf for the SPM as well as your application.
