Deatails regarding PCA10004-nRFgo PCB antenna radio module 2.0

We are creating our own dev board.

What pcb parameters were used for the PCA10004-nRFgo PCB antenna radio module 2.0?

1.6mm? 1oz Cu? impedance control?

I have not extended my antenna length but only matched the copper. is this advised?

Any other caveats?

thanks!

  • Hi,

The PCA10004 is 1.6 mm thickness, 1 oz Cu. Regarding transmission lines (50 ohm tracks), there are none, as the antenna starts right after the 50 ohm output from the matching network.

The length of the antenna will vary from design-to-design, as a quarterwave antenna is depending on ground-layer, formfactor etc. If you have an antenna that is ~25 mm long, with an added PI-network for tuning it into 50 ohms, that should be sufficient antenna-wise.

Normally, what we recommend to do is to upload your gerber-files to that we can do a sanity-check on your layout and schematic. You can upload it here, or make a new case in the support portal if you do not want the whole world to be able to look at your design.

    Best regards Håkon
