I would suggest taking a look at one of our Getting started guides:
For FreeRTOS we have an example in our SDK you can take a look at.
We have an example both for the nRF52840 DK (PCA10056) with SD140, and for the nRF52832 (PCA10040) with SD132.
Best regards,
Joakim
I have not downloaded the 15.3.0 sdk yet.
Can you please quickly confirm, one way or the other, if exactly the same softdevice binary is used for non-rtos and rtos implementations?
And if same softdevice hex file, then which minimum version of softdevice is required?
Thank you

Yes, it's the same softdevice that it used.

If you are using nRF5 SDK v.15.3.0, you should use the softdevice version that is listed under "Supported Softdevices" in the release notes.
https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v15.3.0/index.html?cp=5_1_0
For nRF5 SDK v.15.3.0, this is:
Supported SoftDevices: - S112 v6.1.x - S132 v6.1.x - S140 v6.1.x - S212 v6.1.x - S312 v6.1.x - S332 v6.1.x - S340 v6.1.x
When using the nRF52840, you would need the S140 v.6.1.x.
Softdevice S140 v.6.1.1 is the version that is release with nRF5 SDK v.15.3.0 so I would suggest using that version.
Best regards,
Joakim
