How to get started to understand bootloader ?

 I want to learn DFU/bootloader, I am looking at the official source code, but my ability is too bad, I can't understand it at all. Is there any detailed information about getting started to learn?

You mean bootloaders in general, or the Nordic DFU/bootloader in particular?

Where, exactly, is it lacking?

Do you have ability with microcontrollers in general?

Do you have ability with 'C' programming in general?

I have used a variety of Cortex kernel MCU, but not very familiar with the nordic platform, I want to have detailed information to get started with the Nordic DFU/bootloader
