no signal

Hi,

i'm not getting any signal with a fresh DK and the latest modem driver.

AT+CESQ
+CESQ: 99,99,255,255,255,255
OK

entering AT+COPS=?  will make it unresponsive forever. (nordic LTE Link monitor times out, and no AT commands are possible before hard reset).

does not matter which simcard i use. The one i'm testing right now from telekom works just fine in a simcom lte-m modem.

unfortunately the devzone has no way to attach files, so i uploaded the trace file here:

  • Hi a3p,

It does look like you are using an older version than NCS v1.0.0?

Please try to use this precompiled at_client: merged.hex

You can flash it using the programmer app in nrf connect for desktop or by the command line: nrfjprog --program merged.hex -f nrf91 -r --sectorerase --verify

Since you are mentioning "same antenna" are you using an external antenna on the nRF91 DK? Please keep this in mind

Please send a new Log using LTE Link Monitor and just let the application run through the script by sending the AT command: AT+CFUN?

Are you using the iBasis SIM card provided with the kit?

    Best regards,

    Martin L.

  • no, i tried v1.0.0 as well as master

same issue with the hex you provided.

same with external or internal antenna.

same issue with the included iBasis Sim as well as a known working Telekom sim

  • Hi a3p,
How long do you typically wait for a connection?

The first time you do this, it can take up to 3-5 minutes. (and the response from CESQ will show 255 until you get a response from the eNB)

    e.g.

after a successful connection you can store the network data to modem flash by turning OFF the modem completely: AT+CFUN=0

Then if you reboot the kit and turn on the modem you should see that you get a connection much quicker.

  • thanks, thats good to know. i did now test it by waiting 20 minutes with each sim card.

    same result

  • Hi A3p,

In which country are you located?
Did you register the ibasis SIM on nrf cloud?

Could you try to set the command:

    AT%XMODEMTRACE=1,2

before you turn on the modem.

Please provide logs and any additional information you could think is important for me to know.
