nrf52840 dk: segger embedded studio j-link detection for license

When I open SES it says that it cannot detect any j-link so it asks me to buy license. But shouldn't my nrf52840 dk board have on-board j-link that SES should detect? I check and I plugged it into my PC and J-link shows up in the USB port so I am not sure why SES cannot find it. Thanks!

Do you install SEGGER J-Link Software? SES needs it to work with devices.

For Nordic device users, you can get the license by filling in the form https://license.segger.com/Nordic.cgi  (The MAC field is the MAC address of the network card on your computer, also known as "physical address". Usually, you can find that through the control panel or similar. Find the settings for the network card and "view details" or similar.)

Follow the instructions. (You will receive an email from Segger with an activation key, that you enter in the License Manager within Segger Embedded Studio.)
